Bedtime at Redwall Abbey

Bedtime at Redwall Abbey
It is bedtime at Redwall Abbey and the Dibbuns (the little ones) are off to bed!
This large pastel painting was created for, and appeared in, A Redwall Winter's Tale by Brian Jacques, Philomel Books 2001.
This is the original art. Not a print or re-production.

I created the work to accompany Brian's loveley poem as it appears in the book.

"Up the winding Abbey stairs
little paws go plodding.
In the flick'ring lantern light
tiny heads are nodding.
Side by side, wearily,
snail-like Dibbuns creep.
Rewall's spiral staircase
leads to the land of sleep."
